The Trinity Site in New Mexico, marks the testing of the world’s first atomic bomb on July 16, 1945. Today, the area surrounding the original test site—now part of the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR)—remains active in the steady advancement of increasingly sophisticated military technologies. Each year, WSMR hosts an Open House, drawing thousands of visitors who come to experience where the atomic age began.

Between 2014 and 2024, Mary Kavanagh conducted interviews with visitors to the Trinity Test Site, amassing an archive of voices and perspectives that trace the collective psychic and cultural imprint of the nuclear age. Resonating with memory and reflection, these testimonies form a layered record of awe, grief, and uneasy inheritance, situating personal narratives within broader historical, political, and environmental considerations.
