Published in conjunction with the solo exhibition, Seeking Georgia, this project examines the life and work of American painter, Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986), and was curated by Joan Stebbins at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. In the summer of 2005, Kavanagh travelled widely through Northern New Mexico to experience the places where O’Keeffe produced some of her most enduring landscape paintings. Kavanagh's ethnographic, archival, and imaginative approach to her subject culminated in a multi-faced exhibition featuring photographs paired with paintings; earth samples displayed museologically; and a video installation presenting the artist interacting with a lifelike portrait bust of Georgia O’Keeffe.
