C-prints, 30”x60”

Collection of the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery

Images of natural forms are juxtaposed with military artifacts and architectural remains, documented at the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), New Mexico, where the first atomic bomb test occurred on July 16, 1945. Established during World War Two, WSMR is a military range that continues to support missile, weapons and surveillance systems development, tactical and weapons testing for the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force. It is one of the largest military facilities in the United States, covering approximately 10,000 square km.

Each of the compositions illuminates different aspects of the WSMR on which the Trinity atomic bomb test was conducted, and the evidence left in its shadow.
